Distribution Systems and Consumer Sentiment Compared Across France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, and Spain: The European "Big Five" with Over €20 Billion in Jewellery and Goldsmith Sales
Somewhat surprisingly, the British market is the largest, with a value of over €5.2 billion, while the French market is the most dynamic. In each country, jewellery stores are the dominant distribution channel by value — in Italy, they account for 78% of total sales, and among their customers are many tourists (24% of the total). Overall, online jewellery and goldsmith sales represent 15% of total sales value. Bracelets are the most purchased product in Italy, while rings and earrings top preferences in Spain and France, and necklaces lead in Germany. "Beauty and design" is the main — though not the only — driver influencing consumer choices. "Made in Italy" is no longer sufficient as a geographical identity alone, and although production sustainability is considered an important value and is expected to grow in importance, it still weighs little in consumers’ actual purchasing decisions.
These and many other topics will be discussed by institutions, entrepreneurs, and experts in jewellery production and distribution.
